    Description

    Works under the supervision of the Manager/Supervisor, Director and Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services. The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning, executing and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes current evidenced based protocols, established by RHS, to assess and administer medications via hand held nebulizer or metered dose inhalers, and to assess the need for bronchial hygeine and oxygen therapy. The Respiratory Care Practitioner works to provide excellent customer service and care for each patient despite the physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Works under the direction of the leadership team and strives to provide excellent respiratory care services in accordance with RHS facility goals and strategic plans. Adhears to assuring safe practices as set forth by the National Patient Safety Goals and supports best practices as reccommended by the American Association for Respiratory Care. EDUCATION: Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist, or Eligible Registered Respiratory Therapist with Registry obtained with in 6 months. Will be required to complete the annual competencies determined by the Managers of Respiratory Care. LICENSURE: Licensed by the state of Virginia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. EXPERIENCE: Previous respiratory care experience of one year required, or a current employee of RHS. Must be able to read and comprehend, manipulate numbers, basic computer use and interpret data. Comprehensive knowledge of respiratory process, protocols and equipment.
