NEW: I'm having trouble with the WSYWIG editor upon entering details of my listing

The WSYWIG editor is designed to help you with formatting the description field in the details of your listing. However, it does require that you know a little about HTML. For information on HTML coding you can use with the WSYWIG editor (such as hyperlinks, email text, etc.), click here.

NEW: I entered the embed code for the YouTube field, but it's not working

The embed code that is presented on YouTube can look very similar to other types of code. Make sure you are using the embed code that starts and ends with iframe & /iframe. On the video within YouTube, click on Share, then click on embed and it will provide you with the embed code. Make sure not to confuse it with embed HTML.

Who can use this site?

People who are over the age of 18 and who agree to the Terms of Use of the site. The site was specifically designed for the military community, which includes but is not limited to Active Duty Military Members, Coast Guard Personnel, Military Reservists, National Guard Members, Military Retirees, DoD Civilians, and family members of the military network. We feel that the site will be especially helpful for those that are PCSing or who are PCSing overseas. However, the SargesList helps with everyday ordinary buying and selling needs as well!

What is the cost to register on this site?

Nothing. There are no registration fees for buyers or sellers.

How much, how long and how many photos?

How are the installation areas defined?

If the item or service being sold is within 60 miles of an installation, it can be added. If you add a listing in an area that is surrounded by multiple bases, your listing will show up if it is within 30 miles of each of those installations. It's all based on the zip code you enter and the base you select upon entering the listing.

Is this site sponsored by the Department of Defense or is it in any way affiliated with the Government?

What does Sarge's Paw Stamp represent?

Users that register with a DOT MIL email will have a Sarge Paw Stamp displayed on their listings and communications to let buyers know that they are in the military network. Registering with a DOT MIL email is completely optional. 

How many installations are on the site?

There are over 500 installations listed on SargesList from all branches of service around the world. If you don't see your installation, use the Contact Us page and let us know what the name of the installation is and the location and we'll add it asap.  

How do I find what I'm looking for?

You have several options:

  • We offer a "quick search" bar at the top of our pages for you to enter keywords and locations to search. You may search across the entire worldwide database OR you may select the check mark next to Sarge's Paw Stamp to find .MIIL user's listings and select an installation for refined searches.
  • We offer an Advanced Search page for you to further refine your search criteria (which also includes installation searches and Paw Stamp searches).
  • You may also browse to the installation of your choice by selecting the installation from the left side of the site's pages. The installation home pages offer a variety of installation specific information and ways to connect through Facebook and see what's being sold at the local level.

Can I save favorites?

Yes. You can maintain your own "favorites" list within your account. Each listing detail view has an "Add to Favorites" link. Simply click that link and we will add that item to your favorites list.

Can you alert me when the item I am searching for is added?

You can set up "Listing Alert Filters" within your account area (left hand menu under My Account). Our site will then screen all new listings, as they are placed on the site, and if an item is listed that meets your filter (search) criteria, we will automatically send you an email notification.

How do I edit my listing?

Login to "My Account" (upper right of site) and click on My Active Listings or My Expired Listings, then click on the Edit button. That allows you to edit the category, photos or details of the listing. You may also upgrade your listing from that same location.  

I want to get more visibility to my ad, what can I do?

There are many ways to share your ad. Once you post your listing, we provide you the ability to share a link to your listing via email, Facebook, Twitter, and other social sites. You may also share your listing from your account, My Active Listings section. Or, on the detail view of your listing, there are share features there as well.

What are listing upgrades?

In order to sell your item faster, SargesList has a few upgrades available for purchase:

  • Add more photos (up to 20)
  • Feature your listing
  • Get better placement
  • Select an attention getter!

Can I print a flyer or sign?

Login and click on My Account in upper right hand corner of site. On left hand My Account menu, click on Print Flyers and Signs.  

If my listing expires and I purchased an upgrade, do I have to pay for the upgrade again?

Yes. The upgrade is good for the duration of the listing.  

How do I renew my expired listing?

Login and click on My Account in upper right hand corner of site. On left hand My Account menu, click on My Expired Listings and click the renew button for the listing(s) you want to renew.  

How do buyers and sellers communicate with each other?

We provide buyers with the ability to contact the seller through a form that is accessible on each of the seller's listing pages. Buyers must be registered and logged in in order to contact sellers. The seller will then be notified by email of the buyer's questions and the seller can either reply by email or log in to their account and reply through our internal messaging system. For privacy purposes, the seller can choose to keep their email address anonymous. You may also access your messages on the site in your My Account area.

How do I change my password?

Login and click on My Account in the upper right hand corner of site. On the left margin, see My Account menu, click on My Account Profile and select Edit My Info.  

How do I change my default installation OR location?

Login and click on My Account in the upper right hand corner of site. On the left margin, see My Account menu, see My Account Profile and select Edit My Info and change your Default Installation and hit save.  

My item has sold, how do I take it off the site?

Login and click on My Account in the upper right hand corner of site. On left margin, see My Account menu, click on My Active Listings. You may elect to click on the SOLD button, that will keep your listing visible with a SOLD sign on it until listing expires (30 days from entry) OR you may click the delete button and the listing and it will no longer be visible to searching users. 

Someone is misrepresenting their product or service on their listing, what do I do?

SargesList and its representatives do not guarantee that the users of this site are upstanding citizens. We do not make any refunds or represent you in any disputes for items you purchased. However, you have the ability to report those users who appear to be fraudulent. The SargesList team will investigate and may elect to remove the user and their listings from the site. On the listing for the item you wish to report abuse, click on the Report Abuse link on the left hand menu. If the listing is no longer available, submit your statement through the Contact Us form citing the person's username, email address, phone number, location and the keywords for the items purchased. 

Can I link to SargesList? What is the linking policy?

I would like to get some marketing materials to distribute to military members, can I get some sent to me?

If you are a military housing office or if you are a family service department, please use the Contact Us form to submit your request. Make sure you include your name, address, phone and email address and the quantity in the request.
